The ice is officially off the lake today. We got a little pile up of 4 to 6 inch us in front of us. But most of it went with the strong northwest winds.

Ice is still on the lake. I have decided though that absolutely no one is going to access the lake from here. I do not want anyone to get hurt out there. I have to think safety first anyways. I am a first responder and am not that fond of calls. I like that part of it quiet. This is probably my last post until ice out.

I did not get a very good fishing report today from the guy that was out fishing. He did say that there is 12 inches of iffy ice though. We were frozen straight across this morning and it never left with the temps. We are expecting freezing rain here overnight going into tomorrow. What a winter this has been. We will probably have ice until the middle of April with the temps that are coming in but I still say that I would not trust the ice, especially if the fish are not really biting.

Wayne and Don were out fishing most of the day and came in with some nice perch, however they caught many many small perch and a few keeper walleyes. Ice conditions:approx. 15 inches but some in honeycombed. They said that as long as you are a smart fisherman you will have no problems whatsoever. They had a great time out there with the nice temps and no wind today. We are supposed to freeze in a couple of days and that will help the shoreline. We have wood going out there now to get to the ice. The shoreline is not in very good condition because of the sun and getting the southern exposure. I have cancelled most of my bookings due to the ice. I myself I like 3 feet of it and I still cringe when it cracks. Wayne was surprised as to how easily they could get around out there once they got 15 feet off the shore though. That is it for now. Linda

I am pretty sure this is the end of ice fishing this year. It is raining pretty good out there. As solid as the ice was, I think it will be no longer. As of yesterday the ice lost a couple of inches but was pretty good yet. I heard that in places it was starting to honeycomb. Which is never a good thing. I know that it will be getting cold again, but it will be too late to save the ice.

What I heard today was that the ice has not changed but the fishing did pick up with the size.

From the mouths of my fishermen. There is still 18 inches of good ice out there. They saw 2 trucks on the lake today. I will not allow any thru out landing. I don't feel it is safe enough for trucks. The shoreline is showing signs of wear but they are leaving their sleds and quads on the lake to help preserve it.
